The overall Windows 10 screen looks great, but it allows limited control over the taskbar, action center, and transparency in the Start menu. You can just make these components transparent or solid . However, with a little patience, you can make it look better - you can add transparency or increase the transparency of the start menu and taskbar. If you don't know what to do, after reading this article, you can easily enable, disable or enhance the transparency of these elements.
In the Windows 10 Settings app, a single switch controls the transparency of three elements, namely Start Menu, Taskbar and Action Center. These elements are slightly transparent by default.
To manage transparency:
Go to Settings > Personalization > Colors and toggle Transparency to ON.
However, it is possible to apply Latest Mailing Database transparency to individual UI elements without using this setting and retain the solid color for elements other than elements or individually select the level of transparency for each element.
Control transparency by editing registry keys
You can still be more transparent by modifying registry keys in the start menu and taskbar. Because the Windows 10 registry contains settings and configurations that must be modified critically requires careful care. It is a good practice to take backups of registry files and edit them in front of them.
NOTE : You must have administrative rights on the computer to modify registry keys.
Increase the transparency of the start menu
Modify the registry file:
Press Windows key + R to open the Run command box and type regedit.
In Registry Editor select HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Theme Personalization shown in the illustration below.
Double click to enable transparency . In the Edit DWORD box, replace the value with 0 and click OK to save the changes. The default value will be set to 1, and when you click OK, you will notice a difference in transparency. That's it! you do!
When you increase the transparency, obviously the color of the window behind the start menu, or if the wallpaper is brighter is lighter. Otherwise, the change will not be noticeable. Play around with light and dark backgrounds and change pins to the start menu to see what tiles appeal to you the most.
Note : Make changes that do not affect the action center.
Increase taskbar transparency
Select in Registry Editor : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced . The new value of the advanced subkey that you will create .
To create a new value right click on the Advanced key and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value . Next name the new value UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency.
Double-click the new UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency value to open its properties page, set the value to 1, and click OK .
After making changes, close Registry Editor and restart your computer to reflect the changes. Also, go to Settings > Personalization > Colors and change any of the color settings, ie, toggle to OFF , then back to ON to force the changes.
Apart from the above registry tricks, there are quite a few other hacks to enhance your Windows 10 system. Just be cautious and play with making changes. At any time, if you are not satisfied with the changes you have made, you can always revert to the original settings.
